The mesmerizing electricity pulsing through Debbie Harry on-stage at CBGB, or across town at Studio 54 as Bianca Jagger dances the night away. It’s the provocative, extraterrestrial appeal of ‘space oddity’ himself, David Bowie, or dripping from the brushes of Cy Twombly...the sensibility for colors with Helen Frankenthaler.
Officially launched in March 2018, Les Inconnus’ collections are composed of exclusively handmade and hand-embroidered scarves, created by Brazilian designer Gabriella Zanchi.
Within a year, Les Inconnus expanded its annual production to four main collections, plus the addition of exclusive capsule collections in collaboration with key international wholesalers.
The brand has received meteoric success ever since and has expanded its distribution to Printemps Haussmann, La Samaritaine, Galeries Lafayette, Harvey Nichols and Bloomingdales.
Resident of France since 2013, Gabriella Zanchi left her hometown in Brazil, Porto Alegre, in order to come fulfill her passionate dreams in Paris. The Brazilian designer completed her Masters in Fashion Design at Istituto Marangoni in 2015 immediately segueing into a three-year tenure at Saint Laurent Paris at the heart of the Textile Research & Development Studio.
It was there that the designer continued to refine her already passionate eye for fabrics, prints, colours and textures; a pursuit which ultimately led her to the decision to create her own brand, Les Inconnus.
Beyond the tangible aspect of the product, there is a more spiritual side which exists for Les Inconnus.
Les Inconnus is a direct reflection of Zanchi’s belief that we are always unknown to ourselves in an esoteric sense but there is also great beauty of our earthly experience.
“When the artist finds himself he is lost. The fact that he has succeeded in never finding himself is his only lasting achievement”. - Max Ernst
LES INCONNUS: OUR STORY
WE LOVE: ELECTRIC INDIVIDUALITY
WE LOVE: ARTISANAL FLOURISH
Showcasing the perennial beauty of flora & fauna, it’s meditated and mastered in the work of Irving Penn’s Flowers. It's unmistakably visceral and loud. It’s the clashing and clamoring of one’s innermost emotions. It's transmuted through fervent brush-strokes of the modern expressionist artist.
You can hear its’ energy sustained within the soul-stirring chords Hendrix plucked and arranged from galactic symphonies beyond, delivered to audiences on our third stone from the sun.
WE LOVE: CONFIDENT COMMAND
You see it in the effortless elegance as Brigitte Bardot traipses through sun-drenched promenades in St. Tropez. It’s present in Françoise Hardy’s quiet command of café audiences au terrasse in Paris. The mystifying appeal of duchesse dilettante, Anita Pallenberg.
EFFORTLESS AND TIMELESS
The eternal search for style as a form of self-affirmation and self-fulfillment involves a necessary balancing act where reverence of the past also must meet embracing the future- omit the nostalgia.
We strongly esteem that which is tangible as well as visceral; and it is in this that we also strongly believe these things we continually revisit will remain current and relevant.
Rebellious in love, but secretly certain that the best is yet to come.
Finding beauty in the strange and unknown, in the transforming potential of our choices and in the continuous exercise of becoming, forever foreigners of ourselves in search of the promise land.
ESCAPE INTO AN ETERNAL DAYDREAM.
MARIA LUISA POP-UP AT PRINTEMPS

LES INCONNUS & MUSICIANS
It's no secret that Les Inconnus is a favorite amongst artists and musicians of all genres. Our scarves have been featured in numerous music videos, press appearances, and award shows.
'ESCAPE' 2018 FASHION FILM
Les Inconnus collaborated in 2018 with Film Director Eva Doležalová to create a fashion film about escaping the limits of one’s mind.
Conveyed through the daydream of four women, the film's story develops against the backdrop of the iconic Goldstein Residence, a sprawling mid-century modern mansion perched atop the Hollywood Hills. The film went on to be nominated for multiple independent film awards and was screened at the Los Angeles Film Festival.
'Alma Page' for Soleil Bleu
Les Inconnus has collaborated with the Paris based nouvelle vague music group Soleil Bleu composed by the artists Lou Lesage and Arthur Jacquin dressing them for their music clip titled 'Alma Page'. The scarves are the third main character of the clip and the story also evolves around it.
